“To all who received Him (Jesus), to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God” (John 1:12-13)
One big factor that ought to enhance our Christian life, testimony and witness in our world is our new identity in Christ. Unfortunately many of us often don’t see and know it as a positive enhancer to embrace and allow to blossom our new image in Christ. Hence we tend to keep living our old life of the flesh even though we verbally claim to be people of God but there is little or no fruit of righteousness and holiness to show for it. It is my prayers that as we start the new and next 30 years at AEBC, we all would increasingly realize that once we claim allegiance to Christ, we are changed from inside out by the power of the Holy Spirit into a new being with changed and new identity in Christ. As stated above we become the children of God with all the rights, privileges and responsibility pertaining thereof. Our heart is now turned and tuned toward God desiring to be increasing like Jesus, our Savior and Lord.
We become the special people of God with distinctive way of life that others see and point them to God (2 Corin 5:17; Matt. 5:13-16; Romans 12:1-2). We love God with all our heart, mind and soul making Him the first priority of our life (Mark 12:29-31). We become ambassadors for Christ in the world reconciling men with God.
We ought to be so different and special to such a great degree that Apostle Peter describes us as “God’s chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praise of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9-10). I pray we all start to live out who we really are in Christ into the next 30 years Dr. Johnson Omoni
