Revival and Anniversary Prayer and Challenge

Weekly Digest - 2017-10-25 04:47:14

Today, marks the official beginning of this year’s Fall Revival and 30th Anniversary Celebration of our church, the African Evangelical Baptist. God Himself who made the beginning of AEBC possible has also been the God who has sustained us through the years. And certainly if the church will march on triumphantly unto the next 30 years, this God in Christ Jesus would still be the primary enabling factor ad security. Not anyone among us, but God and God alone, the God of love who loves us with everlasting love and calls us to love Him back for our best good! And He also commissions us to love one another, not to exploit and take advantage of one another for our selfish pursuit. Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, If you have love for one another” (John 13:34-35)

One of the biggest debilitating problems of today’s church and that certainly includes AEBC, is the challenge of loving God in Christ from the bottom of our heart. As we go through this Revival and 30th Church Anniversary, I pray and challenge us individually and corporately to determine letting our love for Christ be #1, not someone or something else. We cannot be who and where we are supposed to be as people of faith if we place Jesus in 2nd place! Neither can our church be (Matthew 10:37). Apostle Paul enjoins us, “And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ” (Philippians 1:9-10). May we be specially renewed today and this week IJN.
