Faith is the Secret to Godís Abundance

Weekly Digest - Wed, 20 Feb, 2019

Faith in God through Christ Jesus is a primary and powerful factor in the releasing and experiencing of His rich abundance for His believing children. We need to first of all clarify for us a distinction between the saving faith and working faith that some often confuse. Some tend to assume that by good works of their own they can establish an authentic relationship with God which is contrary to the Scriptures. Prophet Isaiah said that before the Holy God, “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags” (64:6). Jesus authenticated that we as sinners develop a relationship with God by faith in Him because of His great love for us. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16) Jesus said that He is the Way, and the truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him.” He is also the One who has come to give us humanity life that is abundant (John 14:6; 10:10)

Once we develop that personal relationship with the Lord Jesus, we are made to become the children of God and we become new being in whom the Holy Spirit resides (John 1: 12; 2 Corinthians 5:17). That new life is what positions us enabled by the Holy Spirit to do works of righteousness pleasing unto God. Hence, Apostle clarifies the reality of faith and then works thus; “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of god – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:8-10). It is the saving faith in Christ Jesus that produces working faith enabled by the Holy Spirit bringing glory to God, the Father and not the other way around. God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ if genuine changes our lifestyle to becoming more like Him as Children of God. It is that condition that opens us to being a recipient of God’s fullness, abundance and blessings as we live daily in obedience. Faith in God is defined as the confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see , , , And without that kind of faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He the rewards those who earnestly seek Him (Hebrew 11:1, 6). I pray God’s grace for us all to develop such a life of faith that makes us to enjoy His abundance daily.    Dr. Johnson Omoni
