Apostle Paul has a characteristic attitude and approach in his writing to the Churches of expressing a deep sense of gratitude and Thanksgiving not only to God, the Father but also to the respective focus churches. He would usually thank God for His great love and grace expressed to mankind through His begotten son, Jesus Christ. Then he would also thank the church for embracing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and their labor of love propagating it so others could also come to Hs saving knowledge. He would do this either at the beginning of each letter to the Church after identifying himself and his co-workers or toward the end of the letter and sometimes both.
A good Christian leader usually is humble enough to realize that it is the grace of God and the power of His Holy Spirit that saves him/her and called them to the ministry to lead His people making disciples of all nations and teaching them to observe all things He has commanded us (Matthew 28:19-20). Thus like the old prophet said, “It is not by our power, nor by (our) might, but by the Spirit of God” that we do church and accomplish for Him (Zechariah 4:6).
Thus, it is that special time of the year re Thanksgiving that among many , many other reasons, all our Church workers other than Pastors who serve in one capacity or another ought to be identified and recognized and thanked for all they do in the name of Jesus for the advancement of His Kingdom. Chief among all such workers are the seemingly insignificant and general unrecognized/unnoticeable people who volunteer to clean the church facility week after week. For the sake of Christ, they humbly put down their ego or professional career positions to ensure the cleanliness of God’s house. The closest bible reference for such a service is Psalm 84: 10(b) “I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tent of wickedness”. Likewise, our ushers, media people, teachers/workers in various ministries/departments, music people, church officers and as well as those who give of their money. Deacons deserve our special thanks today and always. We really thank God for your life and relentless service you render to God through AEBC. As you do it unto Him, He will mightily reward you according to the measure of your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. - Dr. Johnson Omoni
