“Hear, O Godly father! :”The Lord is our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might” (Deuteronomy 6:4-5)
From the beginning of God’s general revelation to mankind to His special revelation through the God-Son Jesus, earthly fathers’ primary responsibility as the head of his family is to love God as #1 priority importance. This kind of love is not just a mental assent, but love from the heart doing so unconditionally living and practically demonstrating to his children and others like God himself loves us through Jesus Christ. That’s why Jesus, the God-man reiterated this same kind of love as a teaching tool in Luke 10:27. A father who loves his children would also love the mother of his children teaching them how to be a real man as they grow up to marital status and fatherhood as well.
Godly father would not in any way abuse the mother of his children or treat her like a property to discard or as an inferior or second class human being. God created us equal even different in gender from the mothers of our children with whom we brought those children unto the world. Loving someone is to think, say, do and treat them so they produce the best of God’s potentials in them.
A Godly father would daily display the characteristics of integrity, honesty, hard work, disciplined life’s purpose, responsibility and accountability that honors God making the children to be joyful and proud of him. He would demonstrate such spiritual value of love for God’s word, prayer life, an authentic love relationship and commitment to Jesus Christ. He allows the Holy Spirit rooted in God’s word to be his guide and direction making decisions that are pleasing to God. We thank God for many of our fathers at AEBC who are Godly in the way pleasing to God. We celebrate you all today, believing that if there are areas of shortcomings in any of us, we would allow God to purge us as we rededicate ourselves to Godly virtues that truly make us the head of our family under the grace of God in Christ Jesus. Happy Father’s Day to you all!
