There is a great misconception among many church members about the growth and effective ministry of the local (Baptist) Church like AEBC. The misconception is the subtle belief that it takes just the pastor(s) called of God to grow the church. As much as the Pastor has a great leadership responsibility, indeed it takes an effective collaborative effort of every and all church members under the guidance and leadership of the Holy Spirit to do God’s mission/ministry work. Everyone who has had a genuine personal encounter with Jesus Christ is gifted with certain spiritual gifts, abilities and talents to use for the local church to fulfill her spiritual obligations.
Apostle Paul said, “And He (God) gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists and some as pastors and teachers , for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building of the body of Christ” (Ephesians 4:11-12)
In another passage, Paul said, “Now there are varieties of gifts, and the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. . . “ (1 Corinthians 12:4-7) And yet in another passage Paul said, “For just as we have many members in one body, and all the members do not have the same function, so we who are many, are one body in Christ and individually members of one another” (Romans 12:4-5)
In light of these references, we charge everyone of us that we resolve in the power of the Holy Spirit to be fully involved in 2018 in every area of our giftedness advancing the ministry of AEBC in 2018. Together we can do more for Christ! - Dr. Johnson Omoni
