About African Evangelical Baptist Church
The African Evangelical Baptist Church (formerly known as First African Baptist Church
of Arlington, Texas) was initiated and started as a mission of Hillcrest Park Baptist Church
Arlington, Texas. Pastor Olalekan Omoni was called as the first mission pastor. The purpose of starting this mission church was to reach the un-reached Africans in Arlington and its environs for Jesus Christ. The first worship service took place on October 4, 1987 at the Education Building of the Hillcrest Park Baptist Church.
The mission work was financially and materially subsidized for the first four years by the
sponsor Church (HPBC), the Tarrant Baptist Church Association, and Baptist General Convention
of Texas. Mark and M. J. Grossman as well as Jonathan and Tina Bailey served several years with us as interns and were ordained into fulltime gospel ministry by our church on February 6th 1994. Both couples are now serving as foreign missionaries overseas. Kennedy Adarkwa also served briefly as an intern. The mission church split in March, 1995 and the work started allover again. We had to go back to our
benefactors for another year of financial support. Today we total 82 represented by 24 families
